Level 40 weapons at level 30: every class's weapon quests in one place

Some quests hand out item level 40 to 43 weapons with no level requirement, so you can equip them the moment you finish, even at the level 30 cap. Most of them sit at the top of the weapon slot in the site's level 30 BiS. Hover a name for the tooltip, click it for a link to the quest.

Upcoming hotfix: Magram and Gelkis weapons will need level 35 to equip

“The new quests for the Gelkis and the Magram beginning with “Valley of Bones” now require a minimum level of 35 (was 30).”

“The following rewards from the new Gelkis and Magram quests in the Desolace have received tuning adjustments. In an upcoming hotfix, these will be changed to require Level 35 to equip, matching the quest adjustments.”

This change was announced in the October 8 development notes. It is not in the game yet, so the rewards still equip as before, but once the hotfix lands even rewards you already have will need level 35 to equip, and their stats will be retuned. Don't start these chains now for a level 30 weapon. The Magram and Gelkis sections below will soon be out of date, so they are struck through.

The same notes' change of various dungeon quest rewards from Rare to Uncommon is already in the client, including Dancing Flame and Windstorm Hammer from the Library. The tooltips below show the new stats.

The quests that hand out the rewards are mostly level 40 to 43, so at level 30 they are red. Bring a full group of five. The Magram and Gelkis chains are rivals: raising one reputation lowers the other, so you can only finish one of them.

Warrior: Whirlwind Weapon

Starts at level 30 with The Islander from your class trainer, sends you to Fray Island in the Barrens and then to Bath'rah the Windwatcher in the Alterac Mountains. After defeating the elite Cyclonian, The Summoning and Whirlwind Weapon let you pick one of three two-handers. The axe is Arms' #1 weapon.

Shaman: The Tempest's Weapons

A Shaman-only chain that starts at level 30 with Call of Air from your trainer. It goes through Razorfen Kraul, Twisted Totems from four zones and an elite fight in Thousand Needles, and ends with The Tempest's Weapons: choose one of three weapons and always get the shield.

Staves and maces: the Magram chain

The Magram chain in Desolace. The new Forever part needs Honored with the Magram. Proof of Concept midway and Khan Jehn at the end each let you pick one reward: the end reward has the #1 staff for Mages and Warlocks and the #1 mace for Balance Druids, Shadow Priests and Elemental Shamans.

  • Mage, Warlock #1
  • Balance Druid, Shadow Priest, Elemental Shaman, Protection Paladin #1
  • Retribution Paladin #1
  • Fury Warrior, Combat Rogue off-hand #1
  • Healers, casters
  • Protection Warrior, Protection Paladin

Melee weapons: the Gelkis chain

The rival Gelkis chain, also in Desolace, needs Honored with the Gelkis for its Forever part. Test Your Theory midway and Khan Jehn at the end each let you pick one reward. The end reward has the #1 one-handed mace for Protection and Fury Warriors, Combat Rogues and bear Druids.

  • Fury and Protection Warrior, Combat Rogue, Feral Druid (bear) #1
  • Arms Warrior, Retribution Paladin, Enhancement Shaman
  • Healer, caster off-hand
  • Melee two-hander
  • Melee two-hander
  • Caster one-hander

Wands and off-hands: Scarlet Monastery Library

All three need a book from inside the Library. Rituals of Power leads to Mage's Wand, a Mage-only quest where you pick an Arcane, Fire or Frost wand. Test of Lore ends with Final Passage (Horde). Compendium of the Fallen is Horde only, and only Orcs, Tauren and Trolls can take it.

Rogue and Hunter

Changing Tastes (Horde) in the Excavation Site, Call to Arms (Horde) at Hammerfall in the Arathi Highlands and Stopping the Cycle (Alliance) in the Wetlands reward the top daggers.

Every slot for your spec is on the level 30 BiS page.
