Privacy Policy

WOWF.IO ("the site") is an unofficial fan site you can use without an account. We never ask for your name, we receive your email address only when you sign in to the debates board with Google, and we only process the minimum needed to run and fix the site, as described below.

1. What we process and why

  • Visit statistics (Google Analytics 4): pages viewed, referring page, browser and device type, site language and approximate location (country, city). Used to see which pages are useful and improve the site. Google uses the IP address only to estimate location and does not store it.
  • Visit statistics (the site's own, Umami): the same items, received by the site's server and kept in the site's database (Fly.io). No cookies are used; the IP address is used only to estimate location (country, city) and to recognize repeat visits within the same month. So that we can identify and block automated programs (bots) when they flood the site, we also keep the browser's User-Agent string and your IP address with its last part removed (the address range). The full IP address is not stored.
  • Error reports (Sentry): the error message, page address and browser type when something breaks. Used only to fix bugs. Configured not to send personally identifying information.
  • Tier lists (closed in October 2026): no new lists are accepted. For lists made before then, we keep the title, author name, text and rankings, plus the one-way hash of IP addresses mixed with a secret value that was used to count votes, views and reports once per person. They are not shown anywhere. IP addresses themselves were never stored.
  • Talent build images: when you press "Save as image", we store that build (class and talents), the nickname you entered, your display language and the generated image. We use them to count which builds and talents are popular, and store only a hash of your IP address to stop too many images in a short time. Each image gets a share link, and anyone with that link can see the image and nickname.
  • Feedback: what you send with the "Feedback" button at the bottom right, the address of the page you were on and your display language, plus what we need to reproduce the problem: browser name and version, whether you are on mobile or PC, browser language, time zone, screen and window size, and country. Used only to fix mistakes and improve the site; to prevent spam we store only a hash of your IP address with it. Only the operator can see it.
  • Debates board and news comments: the account number and email address we receive when you sign in with Google (we don't receive your name; your email address is never shown on the site, only the operator can see it, and it is used only to handle disputes and contact you), the nickname you choose, and the topics, opinions, replies, votes and reports you post. To count views once per person per day we store a hash of your IP address. We also store the IP address you post topics, opinions and replies from as is. It is used only to respond to disputes such as harassment, abuse or defamation, or to lawful requests from law enforcement, is never shown on the site, and only the operator can see it. We also calculate a trust level from the upvotes and downvotes you receive and from posts hidden after reports, and show it next to your nickname.
  • Delivery: our servers and our security provider (Cloudflare) briefly process connection data such as your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks.
  • Email: if you write to us, we keep your address and message to reply.

2. Cookies

The site uses the cookies below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site keeps working (it just won't remember your language choice, and you can't sign in to the debates board).

  • wowf_lang: remembers the language you picked. 1 year. Only set when you choose a language yourself.
  • wowf_sid: keeps you signed in to the debates board. 1 year. Only set when you sign in.
  • _ga, _ga_<ID>: used by Google Analytics to tell visitors apart. Up to 2 years.
  • Visitors from the European Economic Area (EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), the United Kingdom and Switzerland do not get Google Analytics cookies.

3. Retention and deletion

  • Visit statistics: deleted automatically by Google Analytics after 14 months.
  • Visit statistics (the site's own): kept in the site's database while used for statistics; deleted on request. The User-Agent string and IP range are deleted automatically after 14 days.
  • Error reports: deleted automatically after Sentry's retention period (currently 30 days).
  • Tier lists: kept unpublished after the feature closed and deleted on request.
  • Talent build images: kept while used for statistics, and deleted on request.
  • Feedback: kept while we work on it, and deleted on request.
  • Debates board and news comments: your account number, email address, nickname and posts are kept while you use the board and deleted on request. The IP address a topic, opinion or reply was posted from is deleted automatically after 3 months (it stays until then even if you delete the post). Images you upload for a topic are public along with it; images you don't use in a topic are deleted automatically after a day, and a deleted topic's images 7 days after deletion.
  • Email: deleted once it is no longer needed.

4. Service providers and international transfers

We never sell or hand over your data. To run the site we rely on the providers below, so data is transferred to servers abroad over encrypted connections while you use the site.

  • Google LLC (United States): visit statistics, debates board sign-in
  • Functional Software, Inc. / Sentry (United States): error reports
  • Fly.io, Inc. (servers and database in Tokyo, Japan): hosting, build and debate image storage (images in Fly.io Tigris storage), storage of closed tier lists
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (global network): page delivery and security

5. Advertising

The site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites (personalized advertising).

You can opt out of personalized advertising below. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent on their first visit, and ad cookies are used only if they agree.

6. Your rights and how we protect data

You can ask to see, correct or delete a tier list you made or an email you sent. Write to the address below with the tier list title and author name and we will take care of it.

All connections are encrypted (HTTPS), IP addresses are kept only as one-way hashes except the posting IP on the debates board (kept for 3 months) and the IP range in visit statistics (last part removed, kept for 14 days), and only the operator can access the database.
