Blizzard Replies to "Why do I see maybe 8 people inside the main city?": Numbers Tweak Coming
BlizzardBlizzard blue postPosted by Blizzard staff on the official forums or newsPosted
On WoW Forever's launch day, a forum thread asked "Why do I see maybe 8 people inside the main city?". Blizzard WoW Game Developer Aggrend replied on .
What the thread was about
- The original poster went to Ironforge expecting launch-day crowds, but saw at most 8 people. The trade channel read "English - 46" and almost nobody was talking in it. They asked whether they were stuck on that "46" and how to change it.
- Several players pointed to layering. Some guessed Blizzard had turned layering up for a smooth launch and would scale it back, perhaps after the weekend, and others credited it for one of the smoothest launches in the game's history.
- Some replied that everyone was simply out questing, but others answered that they saw only one or two people in Orgrimmar, Undercity, Brill and on the zeppelin, about 10 people across the night elf starting area, and a nearly empty Stormwind while trade chat showed 84.
- Many asked for layering to be fixed right away, saying the crowded first days of a fresh server were being lost.
Aggrend's reply
Hi There,
Just wanted to chime in and say that we are aware of some issues with certain areas not feeling as populated as they should. We will be tweaking some numbers to help things feel a bit more lively.
Thanks for the feedback on this one!
What this means for players
- Blizzard has confirmed it is aware that some areas show far fewer players than they should.
- Some numbers will be tweaked to make areas feel busier. The reply does not say which numbers or at what time.
