Beta launch & connection fixes — Data folder, lag, Mac freezes

Fixes collected from Blizzard’s forums and the community. Only the first one comes from Blizzard; the rest are player workarounds.

The game won’t start

• Delete the Data folder inside your World of Warcraft install (the Forever beta folder). Battle.net downloads it again. Suggested by Blizzard community manager Kaivax. Forum post ↗

Heavy lag or disconnects

Beta servers are only in the US, so players elsewhere can see very high latency. Players report these network settings help:

• System → Network: turn Enable IPv6 when available on.
• System → Network: turn Optimize Network for Speed off.

Mac freezes or crashes

• On Apple Silicon Macs the whole system can freeze when entering the world. Lower Secondary Lighting to Fair at the character select screen, then log in. Forum post ↗
