Hyjal Summit's 13 bosses — the last is The Wild King. But who is he?

The beta client (1.60.1.69913) has an achievement, Conquerer of the Wilds (1 Legacy Point), that lists all 13 bosses of the 20-player Hyjal Summit raid. It opens on December 9 alongside Onyxia's Lair and the Barrow Deeps.

The 13 bosses (achievement order)

• 2. Ancient of Decay
• 3. Time-Lost Battalion
• 4. Sylvestris Dusksong — Elune's blessing reduces damage taken; shares health with another enemy
• 5. Old Gloomlurker — Heals nearby enemies while it is close
• 6. Gharalis the Abyssal — Nature-damage acid; as its body crumbles it deals and takes more damage
• 7. Kathris the Haunted — Calls Fragmented Souls to herself and fears those who look into the afterlife
• 8. Anara Chillwind — Uses Elune's power to plant stars (Arcane) and black holes (Shadow) on players and call down stars
• 9. Elder Minderel — Can be frozen in ice, stunning him and making him weak to Fire
• 10. Tracker Stillwind
• 11. Council of Thorns
• 12. Nythus the Dreambound — The Emerald Dream seeps out: more mana regen for everyone, but more damage taken; stunned when he wakes

Who is The Wild King?

No one in the lore has ever been called a king on Hyjal — not even Malfurion. What the client does say:

• He draws on the power of Nordrassil for more damage and haste.
• Overwhelmed by his own power, he takes a horrific new form with the abilities of several Wild Gods. He also summons Wild Spirits, screeches to fear the raid and drains health through a pool of magic.
• The item Token of the Wild King resembles “a bear? Stag? Eagle?” — Ursoc, Malorne and Aviana, perhaps (speculation).
• The item Bloody Parchment mentions “The Pact” and a “Wild King”.

Blizzard Watch speculates that Kathris and Anara are Warcraft III Priestesses of the Moon (their client spells do draw on Elune), Nythus is a green dragon, the Time-Lost Battalion are soldiers from another time, and The Wild King could be Arthas or a corrupted druid king.
