WoW Forever Combat Rogue Leveling Guide

Combat is the most complete rogue spec at level 20. All three core abilities, , and , are available, and you lean heavily on auto attacks. You don't have for cleave yet. Keep a slow sword, mace, axe or fist weapon up to date, and craft your own leather armor with Skinning and Leatherworking.

    Levels 1–5

    Basics and professions

    • Build combo points with and finish with . Combat relies heavily on auto attack damage.
    • Get a slow axe, mace, sword or fist weapon as soon as you can, and spend your silver on that weapon skill.
    • Pick up Skinning and Leatherworking right away. Turn the leather you skin into early armor for empty slots.
    • Level First Aid too. Bandages and healing potions cut downtime between pulls and give an instant heal in a pinch.

    Levels 6–9

    Keep your main hand fresh

    • Your main-hand weapon decides how fast you kill. Upgrade it whenever you can from quest rewards or dungeon drops.
    • As your Leatherworking skill rises, swap into the next tier of leather armor.
    • Move up to the next bandage as well.

    Levels 10–12

    First talents

    • Your first talent is . It lowers the Energy cost of , your main builder, so you kill faster.
    • Next, take . After a kill, your next has a higher critical strike chance, which suits solo play.
    • From level 10, keeping up is the core. Refresh it just before it runs out.
    • Get the Leatherworking pattern and craft your belt: .

  4. 16

    Levels 13–16

    First dungeons

    • After finishing at 2 points, raise damage with .
    • Ragefire Chasm and The Hall of Thanes (level 13), Ruins of Lordaeron (15) and The Deadmines (16) open up.
    • In dungeons your job is largely preventing damage to the party. no longer breaks Stealth, making it reliable crowd control.
    • Alternate and to stop casts. If the group is mostly physical, raises everyone's damage.
    • opens certain locked doors in dungeons, such as the one before the last area of The Deadmines.
    • At 15, craft chest and hand armor with Leatherworking.

    Levels 17–19

    Gearing up in dungeons

    • Raise your hit chance with . Along with and , it is a must-have Combat talent.
    • Wailing Caverns (level 17) drops the most rogue leather gear. Aim for legs, feet, hands, cloak and shoulders.
    • For your main hand, take from a Wailing Caverns quest, then the slow sword from The Deadmines at 19. For your off hand, aim for from The Deadmines.
    • At 17, craft your boots with Leatherworking.

    Level 20 goals

    • Your last point goes into . Together with 2 points in , this is the standard setup for solo play.
    • Run Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep for the target gear below, and pick up the dungeon quest rewards too.
    • The axe from Shadowfang Keep is another main-hand option at 20.
    • Craft the head and legs with Leatherworking to complete all six crafted pieces.
    • Also grab from the class quest and and from quests.
