WoW Forever Fire Mage Leveling Guide

Up to 20, a Fire mage does most of its damage with a wand. Each kill makes your next more likely to crit thanks to , so pull the next enemy with it, finish with your wand and keep moving. Spells have low base damage, which makes Tailoring gear especially important.

    With low base spell damage, gear matters a lot. Make cloth gear with Intellect, Spell Power and Spirit at every level, plus Fire spell power pieces like and .

    Levels 1–5

    Get a wand first

    • Equip right away, then swap to at 5 and at 13. You make all of them yourself with Enchanting.
    • Pull from range with , then finish with your wand. At these levels the wand does respectable damage at no mana cost.
    • Pick up Tailoring and Enchanting now. Crafted gear is the easiest way to stack Intellect, Spell Power and Spirit.
    • From level 4, conjure your own drinks with .

    Levels 6–9

    Hunt on a mana budget

    • You learn at 6. Use it to finish low-health enemies or to pull the next one.
    • Spend mana only on the pull and fight the rest with your wand, so you are not drinking every two mobs.
    • From 6, read the scrolls you find while leveling with . They unlock strong abilities and buffs.

  3. 12

    Levels 10–12

    Talents and first crafted gear

    • at 10–11: each kill greatly raises the crit chance of your next . Pull the next enemy with it and finish with your wand.
    • From 12, shortens the cast time of .
    • When enemies are hitting you, use (level 10) freely to take fewer hits.
    • Craft (10) and (12) with Tailoring. The recipe for (12) is bought with Merchant's Favor, earned by turning in supply crates.

  4. 16

    Levels 13–16

    Into the dungeons

    • At 13, upgrade your wand to .
    • The Hall of Thanes and Ragefire Chasm open at 13, Ruins of Lordaeron at 15 and The Deadmines at 16. Grab their quests for the rewards too.
    • from 15: Fire spell crits set the target burning for extra damage. Pulling with a -boosted crit triggers it too.
    • From 16, open on packs with , then spam . It works best when the tank holds the whole pack.
    • On small packs of 1–2, wand while you regain mana, then spend it on the big 4–5 mob packs.
    • At 15 craft (Fire spell power) and , plus with Merchant's Favor, then at 16.

    Levels 17–19

    Gearing up in dungeons

    • Wailing Caverns opens at 17 and Shadowfang Keep at 18.
    • When pushing through dungeons at a fast pace, you lean on your wand a fair bit to keep your mana steady. Your boss damage holds up fine.
    • Craft and (17), then (19) with Tailoring.
    • With Merchant's Favor, also make (17).
    • Prioritize gear with Intellect, Spell Power and Spirit — with low base spell damage, gear makes up a big part of your power.
